Biography :
Salman Khan born Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan is a popular Indian film actor who appears in Bollywood movies. Khan is the eldest son of celebrated screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife Salma Khan. His stepmother is Helen, a famous yesteryear Bollywood actress. Khan, who made his acting debut with the film Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988), had his first commercial success with the blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), and won a Filmfare Best Debut Award for his performance. During his career years, he was the leading actor in some of Bollywood's biggest hits such as Saajan (1991), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994), Biwi No.1 (1999) and No Entry (2005), and has starred in the highest earnings of five separate years. In 1998, he won a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his extended appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Since then, having significant commercial success and delivering many critically acclaimed performances, he is considered to be one of the biggest superstars and most prominent leading actors in the industry.

Salman Khan made his acting debut in the 1988 film Biwi Ho To Aisi where he played a supporting role. His first leading role in a Bollywood movie was in Sooraj R. Barjatya's romantic film Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). The film went on to become one of India's highest grossing films. It also won him a Filmfare Best Debut Award, and a nomination for Filmfare Best Actor Award.

1990 was a moderately good year for him with one film release, which did not do well at the box-office. However, 1991 was a good year for him, taking part in hit films like Sanam Bewafa, Patthar Ke Phool and Saajan. His second venture with director Sooraj Barjatya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), remains one of Indian cinema's highest grossing films ever. He has since had numerous box office hits throughout the 1990s and in the 2000s. Some of his biggest box office hits include Karan Arjun (1995), Judwaa (1997), Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998), Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United (1999), Biwi No.1 (1999), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Tere Naam (2003), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and No Entry (2005). Khan has starred in the highest earning films of 1989, 1991, 1994, 1999, and 2005.

Khan started his year in 2007 with the multi-starrer Salaam E Ishq which failed to do well at the box office. His next release Partner did very well at the box office, receiving a blockbuster verdict. He next appeared in his first Hollywood movie, Marigold: An Adventure in India opposite American actress Ali Larter. Telling the love story of an Indian man and an American woman, the film was a major failure, both commercially and critically.His last release of 2007 was Saawariya where he made an extended special appearance.

Khan accepted an offer from Madame Tussauds wax museum in London to have a wax replica made of himself. His life-size wax figure was finally installed there on January 15, 2008, making him the fourth Indian actor to have been replicated as a wax statue in the museum.
