Priyamani's base voice!
Reigning South Indian actress Priyamani does not regret that she did not get the prestigious Kerala State Award for the Best Actress for Thirakatha. The jury refused to consider her as she had not dubbed the film by herself. (The trophy eventually went to Priyanka.) At the same time, she is very keen to dub in her own voice, Priyamani says.
"I have been craving to dub in my own voice in my films, but it is up to the director to use my voice. I know I could not dub for Thirakatha because I was busy and the film unit was not able to wait for me to finish the dubbing work. And I don't feel sorry for missing the award also because if I was destined to get the award, I would have got it even otherwise," Priyamani was quoted as saying.
Priyamani, who is all set to don the lead role in the Telugu remake of Naadodigal, says that she has not dubbed for any Telugu films so far. "I have not dubbed even for my first Kannada film Raam opposite Puneet Raj Kumar. Many directors generally feel that my voice doesn't suit the characters. But many top Hindi actresses like Rani Mukerji are dubbing in their own voices despite having a screechy voice like me. It is up to the directors to use my voice or not. I cannot force it because ultimately it is the director's discretion to choose voices."
I’ll take rumourmongers to court: Trisha
Young Tamil actress Trisha has vehemently denied the rumours saying she recently had a verbal fight with cricketer Hemant Badani in a Chennai night club. Trisha claims that certain “vested interests” have been spreading rumours about her to malign her image.
"I won’t keep mum from now onwards. Whosoever writes or says anything bad about me, I won’t mind taking them to court. While it was true that I had been to a star hotel with my friends, neither did cricketer Badani come there nor did I enter into a verbal duel with him," Trisha was quoted as saying. Hemang Badani, on the other hand, was not available for comment on the alleged incident.
According to reports, trouble between Hemant and Trisha started when he ‘bumped’ into the actress, who was present with her friends at the venue. The actress was apparently not in a mood to forgive the cricketer and reportedly called Badani a no-good cricketer. An infuriated Badani returned the gesture with obscene expletives and derogatory name-calling.
Some press reports allege that the tiff was physical also. Sources claim that both the celebrities had to be separated by their friends and were last seen leaving the venue in a huff.
Nayantara as Electra Alexander
Buxom beauty Nayantara will be the leading lady in National award-winning director Shyamaprasad's new Malayalam film titled Electra, which will mark the Malayalam debut of Tamil actor Arya as hero in Malayalam.
Nayantara will essay the title role (Electra Alexander) in Electra, produced by Vindhayan under the banner of Rasika Entertainments. The movie is expected to start rolling by the end of November, after Shyamaprasad releases his ongoing Ritu, a tale of friendship that blooms in the changing social and emotional landscape of a small South Indian town.
Meanwhile, Nayantara is currently busy with four films: Adurs, Anjaneyulu (Telugu), Aadhavan (Tamil) and Bodyguard (Malayalam). The actress recently bagged a female-oriented role in Telugu flick to be directed by Kodi Ramakrishna of recent Tollywood mega hit Arundhathi fame. The movie is to be a socio-fantasy-cum-graphical extravaganza like Arundhathi.
After some unlucky days and back-to-back flops in the past like Kuselan (Kathanayakudu in Telugu), Satyam (Salute in Telugu), Villu and Aegan, it seems Nayatara is all set to bounce back to her No. 1 position in the South.
